Here the patties have just been formed, and are now ready to be sizzled in the skillet.

You might not be so easily convinced by just looking at the short list of ingredients and steps, but trust me when I say that these are worth your time.  These veggie burgers are so simple to make, you may never look back.  Henceforth, your new go-to veggie burger!

Ingredients:

1 can organic black beans, rinsed
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup salsa
1 tbsp olive oil

Optional Toppings:

Greens (lettuce, kale, spinach)
Tomato
Ketchup
Mustard
Pickles
Vegan Mayo with some fresh garlic mixed in, so good!
Avocado or guacomle
Red Onion

Directions:

Mash the black beans in a small bowl.  Stir in the oats and flour until combined.  Next, add the salsa.  Form the mixture into four patties that are about 1/4 inch thick.  This process should be a bit sticky.  However, you should be able to easily shape your veggie burger to fit your bun.  If you are making these ahead of time, simply put the patties on a plate and refrigerate until you are ready to cook them.  Heat up a skillet to medium heat and add the oil.  Fry both sides for a total of 3-4 minutes each, or until slightly browned.  Serve with my favorite homemade bun recipe found here.

*Note, if the patties are too sticky to handle, add a touch more salsa to the bowl and stir.  Also, add some flour to your hands while making the patties.
